Day 17 Fasting your pride. John 13:1-20

You know that uneasy feeling you get when everyone in the room is trying to avoid the unpleasant task that needs to be done but no one is moving toward doing it. You know the elephant in the room, foot washing. Lets face it if you had a room of 13 guys who had just walked on dusty dirty streets and you had to be the foot washer guy, you may have looked all around the room, as well. 

It was pride that kept them glued to their seats, and it was humility that enabled Jesus to kneel before the sanctimonious 12. Over and over again Jesus spoke of fasting pride and walking in humility and just when you think these guys got it, they have another discussion on who is the greatest. Peter protested asking the Master to also wash his head and hands, Jesus takes this opportunity to reveal that one of them were not clean on the inside and would soon betray Him. I am sure if the disciples had that day to live over again they would have all picked up the towel. But life offers no do-overs, so go ahead and fast your pride today, this is a day you will never get back.
