21 Day Fast Towards Divine Nature

Day 12 Fasting putting your trust in surplus. Luke 21:1-3

We know this story as “The widows mite”, and our focus is usually on the widow. But I would like for us to consider the the rich people in this story, and what Jesus says about them. We are told that Jesus observed the rich putting their gifts into the treasury in the temple. He recognizes the widow by saying she gave more than all of them because she gave from her poverty but the rich out of their surplus. There is something about surplus, it is like an insurance policy. As long as you have that nest egg tucked away somewhere you put your trust in it, you rest in its security. The challenge today is to fast putting your trust in your surplus and to fully trust Jesus for everything. What would happen if the banks failed, if our money bottomed out and was worthless like what is happening in Russia today? Where would your trust be? It may be a Dollar or a Yen or a Euro or a Ruble its all the same, if something happed to the surplus what you are left with is Jesus, and He is more than enough.
