21 Day Fast Towards Divine Nature

Day 7 Fasting stinginess. Matthew 26:6-13

Can you imagine pouring something worth 300 Denarii (an average years income) over someones head ? Well that is exactly what happens in this story. A woman who the Gospel of John identifies as Mary pours this very costly perfume that the Gospel of Mark tells us is worth 300 Dearii over Jesus’s head as he was reclining at the table. The “holy 12” were INDIGNANT, are you kidding me, this perfume could have been sold and the money given to the poor. 

The problem with these short-sighted disciples was they were “Stingy”, stingy in their worship of The King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Second Person of the Trinity. The creator was sitting in their midst and their stingy nature was prohibiting them from lavishing love and worship upon God in the flesh before their eyes. 

Sometimes we find ourselves being stingy with God, it may be in money, it may be in service, it may be in worship. Today is a good day to fast “stinginess”. He is worthy of our praise, He is worthy of our money, He is worthy of our gratitude, He is worthy of all the perfume in the world poured over His head. Bow before Him today and worship and lavish Him with your love and devotion.
