21 Day Fast Towards Divine Nature

Day 4 Fasting rank. Matthew 20:20-28

Jesus was traveling with the disciples to Jerusalem when he pulls them aside and begins to explain to them what his last days on earth would look like. Then the mother of James and John approached him on behalf of her two sons who she wants to sit on the right and left side of Jesus in Heaven. 

The Master then gives them a lesson on leadership and life, the way up is down, Jesus invites his disciples to descend into greatness. Whoever wishes to be first will be last and the last will be first. This kind of “Heavenly thinking” rubs against everything that is in the human heart. We like the best seat in the house, we like being the line leader in school, we like being head of the class, we strive to be ranked number one. This is “earthly thinking” and impedes our growth in God, today is a good day to shake loose of seeking rank, of pushing our way to the front of the line. 

When you throw your lot in with Jesus you will walk in the low place so that at the right time He will invite you to “His High Places”.
