Becoming Childlike

Oct 19, 2025    Jawanza Fenelus

Preaching from Acts 23:10–22, Pastor Jawanza Fenelus reflects on Paul’s imprisonment and the young nephew who exposed a plot to kill him. Using this overlooked story, he reveals how God often works through the unexpected—people and moments that seem small but are divinely positioned. Jawanza challenges believers to return to a childlike dependence on God, distinguishing it from childish immaturity. Through Paul’s obedience, the nephew’s courage, and Jesus’ call to humble ourselves like little children, he unpacks three tensions of faith: humility versus pride, obedience versus comfort, and anonymity versus recognition. With personal stories and humor, he reminds the church that maturity in Christ doesn’t mean independence from God, but deeper trust and dependence on Him. The message closes with communion and an invitation to lay down adult self-sufficiency and embrace the simplicity of being God’s children again.
